Watch Us Make History: 2024 Election Voter Guide

This Voter Guide for the November 2024 election was made in partnership with Young Women’s Freedom Center and is unique because it is meant for those of us who have never voted before – whether it is because of laws that prevented us from voting or because we haven’t had access or interest.

As you read “Watch Us Make History”, you will learn more about what is on California’s November 2024 ballot, recommendations on how to vote, and where to vote.

We hope that as you read through this, you will understand the importance and the power of your voice especially in this election year.

We hope that if you can vote, you exercise that right confidently and proudly.

If current laws still prohibit your ability to vote, please let this be a reminder of the solidarity we stand in as we work to engage and build power for those inside.

We are almost halfway to 2030!

In 2020, Sister Warriors Freedom Coalition and Young Women’s Freedom Center launched the Freedom 2030 campaign to end the incarceration and criminalization of women, girls, and gender-expansive folks across the state of California. Over 500 of us convened at the State Capitol to declare that we were going to change laws that have separated our families, harmed our communities, and thrown away lives.

Through passionate storytelling, powerful organizing, and vital voting, we have won big victories for our communities across California. From restoring the right to vote for formerly incarcerated folks to winning free phone calls to loved ones from state prisons, we’ve seen the number of people locked up in prisons, jails, and youth detention centers shrink and even close.

This November is an opportunity to change the systems that we know do not work to improve the lives of our children, our families, or our communities. And we cannot allow local, state, and federal governments to go backward on the progress we have made.
